Adam Joseph McDaniel Wanted for Early Monday Shooting and Kidnapping; 7-Year-Old Boy Found Safe in Rossville While Rayne Shideler Remains in Critical Condition

LAFAYETTE, IND: Lafayette Police have launched a multi-agency manhunt for 37-year-old Adam Joseph McDaniel, wanted in connection with an early Monday shooting and kidnapping. Authorities warn he is armed and dangerous.

At 8:45 a.m., officers responded to the 700 block of Olivia Place, finding 39-year-old Rayne Shideler shot at least once. She was rushed to a hospital in critical condition. A 7-year-old boy abducted during the incident was safely located in Rossville, providing relief amid the crisis.

McDaniel is believed driving a silver 2011 Ford F-150 with oversized aftermarket wheels and Indiana plate TK872OAA. Do not approach; call 911 if sighted. The investigation processes ballistic evidence from the scene and traces McDaniel’s flight path. Detectives link the violence to a sudden altercation.

“This is a searing trauma for Lafayette, especially involving a child,” officials stated. “We pursue justice relentlessly for Rayne and community safety.”

Residents: lock homes/vehicles, report suspicious silver F-150s immediately, provide tips anonymously to Lafayette PD (765-807-1200) or 911.

As Shideler fights for life and the boy recovers, Lafayette unites in vigilance. The manhunt continues until McDaniel’s capture.
