The announcement was shared with students in a message from Vice Provost and Vice President for Student Affairs Mary Pat McMahon and Dean of Trinity Gary Bennett, who expressed deep sorrow and extended heartfelt condolences to Yohannes’ family, friends, and all who knew her.

Originally from Lawrenceville, Georgia, Abigail Yohannes was a member of the Class of 2026 and was pursuing a degree in sociology. She was recognized for her academic excellence as a member of Alpha Kappa Delta, the international sociology honor society. In addition to her scholarly achievements, she was an active member of the Hollows residential quad, where she built meaningful connections with fellow students and contributed to the campus community.

Emergency personnel responded to the Hollows residence on Sunday afternoon.
